A BCEF PROGRAM
Arts Are Elementary
Professional artists in every public pre-K-5 classroom in Brunswick, since 1980.

Sparking creativity in Brunswick's youngest learners
For more than four decades, Arts Are Elementary has partnered with Brunswick's public schools to bring a professional artist residency to every pre-K through 5th grade classroom. Each year, every grade works with its own resident artist — musicians, painters, dancers, poets, circus performers and more — and the organization also offers the wider community ways to engage with art.
A small investment with a big reach

One grade, one artist, one year of discovery
-
Every grade from pre-K through 5th grade is paired with a working teaching artist each school year.
-
Residencies connect the arts to what students are learning — from force and motion to Maine pond ecology to world cultures.
-
Artists are selected through an annual Call to Artists open to teaching artists across Midcoast Maine.
